Community guidelines

GatherIn exists so people can meet in real life. These guidelines apply to everyone — in the app, on the website and at events.

Real people, real events

Use your own name or a recognisable nickname and a real profile photo. Only publish events that actually take place, with an accurate time and place.

Respect and safety

Treat everyone with respect, online and in person. Harassment, threats, intimidation, hate speech and demeaning anyone for their origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability are not allowed.

What we don’t allow

• illegal content or activity;
• sexual content involving minors — we remove it immediately and report it to the authorities;
• unsolicited sexual content or messages;
• glorifying violence, encouraging self-harm or suicide;
• fraud, scams, spam and misleading events;
• publishing someone’s personal data without their consent;
• selling drugs, weapons or other prohibited goods.

For organisers

Describe your event accurately: time, place, costs and the conditions for joining (e.g. number of places, level). Review applications on that basis. If the event is cancelled or changes, let participants know in good time.

For participants

If you applied and were accepted, show up or cancel in good time. Not showing up without notice lowers your reliability.

Reporting and blocking

If someone breaks these guidelines, report them from their profile, the message or the event using “Report”. You can block anyone with “Block”: a blocked user can’t message you or see your profile.

If you are in immediate danger, call 112 right away.

Consequences

We review reports. Depending on how serious the violation is, we issue a warning, remove the content, restrict the account or close it permanently. We tell you about the decision and the reason for it.
